Wartime Hoole

To commemorate the Centenary of The Great War 1914-18 the Society has been working to identify the names of the Fallen recorded on the Hoole & Newton War Memorial and we would be delighted to hear from you if you can confirm or correct such details as we have already but especially for those men that we have yet to identify who are highlighted on our list.

To mark the 75th anniversary of World War II, names of the fallen on that Memorial have also been identified along with other servicemen with Hoole connections. The Society would be pleased to receive details of any of the servicemen who lost their lives in that conflict.

We are also looking for any information on those who served either in the Armed Forces but also on the Home Front e.g. as nursing or other staff at Hoole Bank, Hoole House, and Chester War Hospitals or in other ways e.g. munitions workers or fund raisers.

The Society is always interested to learn about war-time experiences, and is usually able to help identify and clarify the movement and engagement of members of the armed services. Photographs of local service people are very welcome.

If you have any information that you would like to share, please contact us.
